Norms!
- Create connections with one another! Question, encourage, challenge, and help each other be deep mathematical thinkers in an encouraging way!
- Understanding is more important than speed! Just because you can finish a problem quickly does not mean you have a deep understanding of the topic.
- Persevere! Not all students learn at the same pace, but ALL students are capable!
- Mistakes are awesome! They are an opportunity to learn and make connections!
- Questions are important! Don't be afraid to ask.
- Creativity is important in mathematics! Math is about investigating patterns and solutions.
- Communication is needed! You need to be able to see, discuss, and critique math by using different mathematical representations and working with one another.
- Challenge yourself! You can only rise to the amount of effort you put into a task.
- Math is every where! It is used in real life all over. Take time to find connections between mathematical tasks in class to real life experiences you might see at home.
